The hours vary throughout the year. There is a ticket plaza to purchase tickets into the park. The park closes 1.5 hours after the plaza. The elevator to the top is currently being repaired, but you can climb thousands of stairs to get to the top. It should be fixed late 10/2013. There is a section of the park at the bottom of the waterfall closed due to a rock slide, so they are offering a reduced rate to enter the park of $12, military gets in for $10 with ID. They do not have a date as to when the waterfall trail will be repaired.
We spent a Sunday afternoon here and it was breathtaking.

Elevator is out (10/2011) while new one is installed. Stairs are nice for the climb. The views are worth the hit to your pride after stopping every ten steps for a breath on the way up.

Beautiful views, nice trails, very tall waterfall. Park entrance at bridge across the Broad River and you drive to the parking lot and take an elevator up to the rock, views of Lake Lure and the cliffs across the valley. Parts of the movie "The Last of the Mohicans" were filmed on this mountain.
