According to the big thumb's accompanying plaque, the ancient thumbs up symbol is also "the first hand sign in the history of the Southwest Conference." As with everything else in College Station, it's all about college football. The sculpture is an enlarged version of the thumb of the owner of the college football sportswear shop who placed it in his parking lot.
