SS United States

We just had a three-hour tour of the ship on 20 July 2024; it was great but not cheap ($250.00). Funds are being raised to construct exhibits in the ship. The ship will have to be moved in the near future.

The SS United States is 990 feet long, so they'd better save that exhibit money and use it to pay for a fleet of tugboats.

The ship is still a hulking abandoned vessel, and still not open to the public.

The SS United States is right across the street from IKEA and visible from the 400 section of Phillies Stadium. Just look for the giant smoke stacks along the Delaware.

Giant Ship Hulk - SS United States

Driving back from a vacation trip on 1-95, my 8 year old daughter suddenly said "Dad, there's the Titanic!"

I looked to the side, and wow, there was a giant black hull ocean liner, complete with deep V hull and giant smokestacks! Upon getting home and researching, I found it is the SS United States; a long neglected classic ocean liner, with a long suffering following of people who faithfully dream of its "resurrection." It cannot be toured, but makes an awesome roadside sight!
