These were built in the early to mid- 1990s. Their height represents how high the Ohio River was in 1937. Originally there was going to be a huge stainless steel ball in the middle and it would go up and down, depending where the river was. Pool stage is the ground and it's marked every 10 feet. The top is over 70 feet. They never got the ball made so the town of Vevay hired me to paint "VEVAY"on one and"SWITZERLAND COUNTY" on another and "INDIANA" on the last one.
