Shoe Tree

Shoe tree located a few miles south of Ravendale and on the east side of Hwy 395.

This is a huge tree - there's still room for plenty more shoes. Oh, and how did they get those waaaay up there?

The tree is Waymarked and houses a geocache among the hundreds of shoes.

Shoe Tree - New on Highway 395

Since the road department cut down the old shoe tree, a new one has been started nearby. Two years ago when I put up a pair of golf shoes, there were maybe 20 pairs. Now there has to be over 100. It's a highly visited stretch of roadway, as burning man festival is quite close by every year. The tree stands next to the remains of an old house or roadside stop. The tree, while visually striking in the winter time with its shoe glory, looks just like a regular tree most of the year with its leaves.

Shoe Tree

An unknown person cut this tree down about eight years ago. It was the only tree in that area. It was located south of Ravendale, CA - the next town south of Alturas.

Shoe Tree

Update on the Shoe Tree reported between Alturas, CA and Lakeview, Oregon, on Hwy 395: A friend was recently through that area and took a photo of the shoe tree. It is actually south of Alturas, CA, not north, and is on the east side of Hwy 395. There is no town of any size within about 20 miles and there was no one around whom he could ask about the tree. The photographer is Wally Jaynes of Yucaipa, CA.
