Manufactured Old West Ghost Town

This town was pretty small, so I wouldn't go out of my way to look at it, but it was pretty interesting. There are a few buildings still standing, but basically all of Ed Lowe's hard work is gone, except the Tumbleweed, which is now in much need of repair and is a chiropractic office.

Western Ghost Town

The "ghost town" is Jones, Michigan and it is east of Cassopolis, MI on m60. The town holds its own zip code and is completely separate from Cassopolis. The town existed long before it was remodeled by Edward Lowe, who fashioned it after a western town...not a ghost town.

Edward Lowe was the inventor of Kitty Litter and Tidy Cat. He has since passed away but in no way did he go broke...a foundation in his name still exists in Cass County on some 2,500 acres and his widow resides in the biggest residence on Diamond Lake. She also owns no less than three other residences on the lake.

Manufactured Ghost Town

On M-60 North of Cassopolis there is a town called Jones. There is a good place to ski there called Swiss Valley, and also there is a Ghost Town. The town is not original, it was built by a man (I can't remember his name) as a tourist attraction, designed to look like a typical old west ghost town. He went broke and the attraction never caught on, now it really is a ghost town. It's pretty interesting to see.
