Galena, Kansas: Frecs, Home-Made Miner Statue (Gone)
Short for "Freckles." 19 feet tall, dressed as a miner, built out of pipe, canvas, chicken wire, and glue in 2019. The idea of Renee Charles, as a Kansas version of a Route 66 Muffler Man. 2022: accidentally destroyed by fire.
- Directions:
- North edge of town, on the old alignment of Route 66. From downtown drive north on Main St. Turn right at the old gas station (Cars on the Route 66) onto Front St. Drive a quarter-mile. You'll see "Frecs" on the left, just before the bridge.
