Knoxville, Tennessee: Hypnotic Stairs

Drab outdoor staircase transformed by paint into an op-art freak-out. Supposedly inspired by the patterns of Appalachian weaving, but granny's shawls never looked like this.

Colorful Steps

A set of steps near World's Fair Park has been transformed into a piece of art by Jessie and Katey, a team of mural artists from Baltimore. The art was commissioned in 2017 and the two artists turned a drab set of steps into a vibrant maze of colors. Here's hoping they used good long-lasting paint, because these steps are walked on every day.

Caution: Staring at the steps may open your Third Eye and send you tripping to the 1960s.
