Groton, Massachusetts: Bancroft's Castle
Bankrolled by businessman William Bancroft in the early 1900s, it fell into ruin after a fireworks accident in 1932. Small, but open to the public.

- Entrance to the path to the castle is on the north side of MA-40/Lowell Rd, a quarter-mile east of the Gibbet Hill Grill. There's a small pull-off next to the trail entrance on Lowell Rd, or you can park at the back of the Gibbet Hill Grill lot and then walk along Lowell Rd to the path entrance.

The castle was bankrolled by businessman William Bancroft in the early 1900s, who ran out of money before he got very far. Most of what was built was destroyed by careless fireworks in 1932. Probably the only "castle" conquered by cherry bombs and bottle rockets.
