Anyone entering Ashville's Community Park knows that the town is the home of the World's Oldest Traffic Light, because it's been carved into a tree.

- From the center of town go north on Long St. and then turn east on Harrison St., or go east on Main St. and turn north on Walnut St. The tree carving is on the southeast corner of Harrison Walnut Sts., at the Community Park entrance.

Ashville claims to be the home of the world's oldest traffic light, which is displayed in the Small Town Museum in the center of town. The town is very proud of this distinction, and in addition to the actual traffic light at the museum, an old dead tree at Community Park has been carved at the top with a likeness of the traffic light. From a distance it reminded me of the Eye of Sauron from the Lord of the Rings movies.
