Signs around the tree claim that it's the Texas Champion Live Oak and over 1,000 years old. Encircled by a fence, so no Big-Tree-hugging.

- From Rockport drive north across Copano Bay on TX-35. Turn right at the brown Goose Island State Park sign onto TX-13/Main St. Drive straight for 1.5 miles. When you reach the water and the road turns left, follow it for another mile. When the road bends left again, follow it for a hundred yards. You'll see the Big Tree parking area on the right.
