First Boy Scout Troop in America
Granite statue, unveiled in November 2018, commemorates the First Boy Scout Troop in America. Barre's "Scout Club" began in 1909, before the Boy Scouts of America incorporated on February 8, 2010. They were the very first troop to join the BSA in July, 1910. Their sister organization, the Camp Fire Girls, was formed in Thetford, Vermont, also in 1910. Vermont became the hub for scouting in North America.
