A great boulder of iron ore lays half buried in the golf course of Audubon Park. Some say it was left over from the 1884 World's Fair. Others claim it to be a meteor that crashed there, which is unlikely, given the lack of any crater. Either way it is an interesting object.

The golf course was formerly the site of the 1884-85 World's Industrial and Cotton Centennial Exposition. The iron boulder was left behind, too heavy to move. On April Fool's Day 1891 the local paper published a story claiming it was meteorite, and people have believed it ever since.
