T
he neon Kielbasa sign definitely lights up. In the early morning you see the smoke coming from the exhaust fans and you can smell the smoked sausage!

All that remains of the kielbasa is the metal shell of the sign -- no paint, neon, or maintenance in years; identifiable only by its shape and the address given in RA. The business no longer exists at this location.

There is a 30-ft tall neon kielbasa on the Kowalski Sausage building in Hamtramck, Michigan on Holbrook St. In my travels this morning, I took the freeway and photographed the sign for you. At night, it glows -- a big wiener beacon. Hamtramck is an old, working class, ethnic city, in the middle of Detroit, home of Poles, Eastern Europeans, and a mix of many ethnic peoples, they have a great festival every Labor Day weekend where they shut down the main drag for about a mile and have food and drink booths, and live music and parades, much drinking and decadence and kielbasa consumption!
