Los Angeles, California: Oil Derrick Camouflaged As Synagogue
Tower building disguises 40 unsightly oil drilling and acid fracking wells under the bushel of a pseudo-house of worship in traditionally Jewish neighborhood. The 175-ft Cardiff Tower was erected in 1966, renovated in 2001 -- it moves on tracks over the interior wells.

This is a pretty impressive game of hide and go seek. I wouldn't have guessed it was something else, but I should've been a little suspicious -- there are no windows. Three blocks long, and the tall tower is pretty cool looking.
