Patrick Amiot and Brigitte Laurent have created hundreds of novel character and wildlife scenes from discarded metal and other scraps. The work of the Sebastopol artists can be spotted around town -- such as this one, right on the main drag of Gravenstein Highway.
On the front lawn of a chiropractor office, a pedestal of painted water holds two bears. One bear stands on hind legs and clutches a freshly caught fish. A tiny documentary filmmaker and his dog observe from an adjacent forest pillar. The 2012 work incorporates old propane tanks, fire extinguishers, castors, strips of metal and plastic light covers for eyes.
