The Mattatuck Museum was extensively renovated while they were closed for Covid. The buttons are pretty amazing in their detail and diversity. There are so many it's a bit overwhelming. Wished they had more in the way of descriptions/labels and better lighting in the area. Also wish our modern clothes could come with wonderful buttons.

I went here in November and was really impressed with the variety of buttons on display. Some of them are very intricate and almost looked like coins. Others reminded me of fishing lures. All are behind glass.

A collection of something close to 20,000 old buttons (the kind on your clothes). They have hand painted ones, carved ones... it is actually the top floor of the Mattatuck Museum, which is a fine art museum in itself.
