Louisa Ann Swain became the first woman to vote in a U.S. general election on Sep. 6, 1870. She did it in Laramie. Her bronze statue was unveiled in 2008.

We found out the plaque is actually incorrect! She is the first woman in Wyoming, not the U.S. The museum staff shared this information with us.
