Whispering Bench

Whispering Bench

This "whispering bench" is located near the J. Sterling Morton memorial in Arbor Lodge State Park. Morton is the founder of Arbor Day. The bench is a large semi-circle. One person sits at each end of the bench. Lean over and whisper into the back of the bench and the person on the other end can hear you plain as day! Very cool ... fun for adults as well as kids.

[Craig Connolly, 06/10/2020]

The bench, built in 1905, has its own plaque describing how best to harness its whispering powers.
