Londonderry, New Hampshire: Buffy The Dog Monument

Buffy's statue formerly stood outside the auto repair shop where she lived. It vanished in the early 2000s. Now it's in a pet cemetery, presumably with Buffy.

Buffy The Dog Monument - Gone

The Buffy the Dog Monument is gone, the area at the junction of Route 3 and Bypass 28 paved over by newer development. Buffy was the golden retriever cherished by the owners of Great Northern Tire and Alignment. A memorial to Buffy's memory stood along the highway before the business was sold in 2002.

Buffy the Dog Monument - GONE

The Buffy the Dog Monument, at the convergence of Routes 3 and the 28 Bypass in Hooksett, New Hampshire, is no longer standing. The service station has changed hands and the new owners only kept the monument around for a couple years. The statue of Buffy atop a large mound of gravel has been removed, as has been all of the Buffy memorabilia inside the garage.

October 2004 - confirmed in an article from the Union Leader, send by Michael Curtiss. The former site is being paved over as part of Route 3 improvements.

Buffy The Dog Monument - In Danger?

The Buffy the Dog Monument may soon be memory. The statue of Buffy, a golden retreiver owned by the proprietors of Great Northern Tire and Alignment, has guarded the site for some years since his passing. However, Buffy's owner sold the garage in 2002 and the name has changed. The new owners are negotiating with the State of New Hampshire and the town of Hooksett to move the garage to a new location, as there are plans for a newly designed intersection or traffic circle, to relieve the traffic jams that occur at peak business hours.

The garage will most likely move slightly south and west of its original location, and the large mound of crushed gravel on which Buffy sits will be removed. This is probably going to happen no later than 2010. The new owners have not said anything about re-installing the statue in the new location, should the move occur.

Another note: It is a memorial, not a grave.
