Bodie State Historic Park - Ghost Town
About a half an hour north of Mono Lake, California. Probably the most well-preserved ghost town anywhere in the West.
[Imperialjoe, 11/15/2012]Bodie - Ghost Town
Bodie is an old mining ghost town located in the Eastern Sierras of California. It's well worth the visit if you are traveling on U.S. 395, or if you are interested in historic state parks. The town has been well preserved and has lots of cool artifacts and is an awesome example of what frontier life in the West consisted of, even though in its heyday it was probably considered a city. I especially enjoyed the old Methodist Church...and the reminder the whole town gave me of Clint Eastwood's "High Plains Drifter."
[Jack Colton, 04/13/2009]Bodie State Historic Park is THE ghost town to see - better preserved than any in the world (I believe.) This was a gold mining town that busted in the early 1900's, and hasn't changed since the people left.
