A memorial that resembles a modern Stonehenge recalls 12 A&M students who died in 1999 when a bonfire wood stack collapsed during preparation for traditional festivities.

From Texas Ave. turn at the stoplight onto New Main Drive and enter the campus. Turn right at the first stop sign, then quickly turn right when you see the sign for Lot 51. Once you make that turn, you'll see the parking lot on the left, and on the right a small parking lot for the Memorial.

Texas A&M Bonfire Memorial

The Spirit Ring surrounds the site of the 1999 Bonfire and represents the Aggie Spirit. The twelve portals are oriented toward the hometowns of those who died in the collapse.

Texas A&M Bonfire Memorial

Situated on the polo fields of Texas A&M University, the Bonfire Memorial was created to memorialize twelve students who were killed when the structure being built for the university's annual bonfire collapsed in 1999. Located on the site where the collapse occurred, the memorial also honors those injured in the accident, while commemorating the 90 years of the bonfire's history and the school spirit embodied in the longstanding bonfire tradition.
