Brainerd, Minnesota: Giant Sitting, Talking Paul Bunyan

Fans of the now closed Paul Bunyan Amusement Center in Brainerd, Minnesota will be pleased with news that all of the attraction's assets have found a new home at the nearby This Old Farm attraction.

Saw this sad scene while visiting the Paul Bunyan Amusement Center. A decommissioned Paul. This is not the 45 foot animatronic Paul at the Center's entrance (that addresses you by name as you enter).

The Paul Bunyan Amusement Center is closing September 7 to make room for a Kohl's department store (oh the humanity!). It is rumored to re-open on a Brainerd area farmers land (replete with a Paul Bunyan motel).

After the closing of Brainerd, MN's outstanding Paul Bunyan Center, the talking Paul Bunyan statue and Babe the Blue Ox will have new homes -- but not together. Owner Don McFarland was finally forced by declining attendance to scuttle the theme park and find alternative careers for his statues and employees.

Brainerd's giant animated, talking Paul Bunyan may be forced from his chair after 50 years of sitting. The Bunyan, along with his sidekick Babe the Blue Ox, will move when the owners of the Paul Bunyan Amusement Center sell their 8-acre park to developers....
