Virginia Dare Burial Site
Somewhere in Robeson County, in the midst of a tree line, Native American legend holds that Virginia Dare, the first English child born in the New World, was laid to rest. Virginia Dare and over a hundred other English colonists disappeared from history in the 1580s from "the Lost Colony" on Roanoke Island. The land is posted "No Trespassing," but there's a small sign/marker next to the road.
