Miss Indian Territory marries Mr. Cowboy Oklahoma on Statehood Day, November 16, 1907. The sculpture was created by Frederick A. Olds to symbolize the twin territories coming into the union as a single state.
The statue stands in front of the Oklahoma Territorial Museum, which displays one of the original Oklahoma-added 46-star American flags. The first Carnegie Library in Oklahoma is on the adjacent property, noted with an Oklahoma-shaped monument.
