The 7 mile (in and out) trailhead is at this location. It will take you to the actual location where this hotshot crew perished. Very strenuous hike in the beginning.

The firefighter statue, which is next to the highway parking lot, was dedicated in May 2018. Nineteen Granite Mountain Hotshot Firefighters died on June 30, 2013, fighting the nearby Yarnell Hill Fire. Visitors can hike to where they futilely hunkered down in emergency heat-resistant aluminum tents, a site now marked by metal cage boxes filled with rocks and decorated with offerings.
