- Northland Lodge. From Walker drive east on MN-200 for five miles. Turn north onto Smokey Point Rd NW. Drive 1.5 miles. Turn right onto Northland Lane NW. Drive a half-mile to the Lodge entrance. Look for the building shaped like a stump. Private property; be mindful of Lodge guests.

When we got to the resort and went down to the office where Paul Bunyan's Guest house should have been, a new very modern-looking building was in its place. Nobody was available at the office to discuss, and we noticed several tarps over the roofs of other cabins, so I think it might have been damaged enough they had to tear it down.

At the Northland Lodge near Walker on Leech Lake, guests can stay in a giant tree-stump-shaped cabin known as the Paul Bunyan's Guest House. Paul's giant axe leans on the side and a small Babe the Blue Ox stand guard out front.
