Punta Gorda, Florida: Calostimucu: Toth Indian Head
Two-faced 30-foot-high Indian head was carved in 1974 from a monkey pod tree by artist Peter Wolf Toth. He returned to Punta Gorda in early 2025 and restored cracks in the statue.

This Peter Toth sculpture has two faces. There is a plaque in front giving the history. The eagle on top has had some metal added to it. It also has lightning rods attached. It has easy access for all. Our number 5 Whispering Giant.

We were out enjoying the day and stopped in Punta Gorda to seek out this attraction. And there it was, big as life. The Indian Head is looking a little weather worn, as all wood does eventually. He sits on the corner, so you can park in the lot across the street and take pictures without much interference.

6000+ pound wooden sculpture was carved from a monkey pod tree by artist Peter Wolf Toth. The piece is named "Calostimucu." It's located across from the City Center, in the downtown historic district of Punta Gorda, on the corner of US 41 South (Tamiami Trail) and W. Retta Esplanade.
