The Phoenicians' nearly three-century eastern Mediterranean dominance as merchants, traders, and colonizers is well recognized at the Phoenicia Resto restaurant, with a custom-crafted mosaic sign and ship, enhanced by a shell and concrete-infused bow. I hope the neutral colors don't reflect on the proprietor's cuisine. A small well nearby with a poised pouring pitcher inspires appreciation for modern plumbing. In an area dominated by office buildings, shopping malls, traffic jams, chain restaurants, and upscale power-broker dining, this outdoor decor is unusual and easily missed if you're not a pedestrian or cyclist.
