101-foot-high obelisk, dedicated in 1913, commemorates the casualties of the 1791 Battle of the Wabash (also known as St. Clair's Defeat), and the 1794 Battle of Fort Recovery -- the greatest bloodbaths ever inflicted on the U.S. military by Native Americans.

Improvement projects on the grounds are still underway, but there is ample parking, and the monument is very visible and accessible. A 1913-era sign warns of a $5 fine for defacing or climbing on the monument (nearly $135 in today's money).
