Blacksburg, South Carolina: Abandoned Casino Castle (Gone)
Built during the video poker boom of the 1990s, then abandoned in 2000 when South Carolina's Supreme Court outlawed gambling. Remained surprisingly intact and castle-like until it was bulldozed in early 2024.
- Directions:
- Just south of the North-South Carolina state line. I-85 exit 106. Turn northwest onto US-29. You'll quickly see the Castle ahead, on the left, past the fireworks store.

On our way home from Pennsylvania we stopped for gas and noticed this abandoned castle across the street. Of course we had to check it out. It is a cool place to see, but definitely gives off a creepy vibe.

Looks like the heavy equipment is for all the roadwork going on around the castle. We were coming north and exit 106 is moved, so our GPS had to reroute us. Worth the little detour.

The Casino Castle is right next to the entrance ramp to the interstate. You can't really drive in the parking lot from what we saw, but you can see it as you go by.
