Blue, Arizona: Arrow Tree (Gone)

A towering stick of an old, dead pine tree has been riddled with countless arrows, apparently by highway drivers who travel with bows and have shafts to spare.

Directions:
Was 31 miles south of Alpine on Coronado Trail/US 191 (formerly US 666), nearest to milepost 223, on the west (southbound) side.
Hours:
June 2019: Reported fallen over.

The directions/location are spot on. Do not drive to this attraction unless you're planning on driving through for the mountains anyway.

Arrow Tree

This is less an attraction than an oddity. There's a old dead tree along the side of the Coronado Trail (Rte 666) south of Alpine, that has become the target of literally thousands of archers. Apparently, the idea is to stick your arrow as close to the top of the tree as possible. The tree is about as full as it can be. It's one of the more interesting things along the road, north of the biggest hole in the ground at Morenci.
