With celebrity restaurants being a recurring theme in the 1960s, one chain expanded the concept to include the cartoon character Yogi Bear. Selling "pic-a-nic" baskets filled with delicious honey fried chicken, Yogi Bear restaurants were popular and seemed destined for expansion. Plans fell through, however, and today this is the last restaurant left in the chain. The locals are still enthusiastic about the food!

Yogi Bear's Honey Fried Chicken in Hartsville has been on its own for a couple of decades after the demise of the others. At the chain's height, fiberglass character statues stood at each property. Some moved on to become mascots at Yogi Bear campgrounds; the rest were eventually hauled away, lasting for a time in an unofficial Yogi Bear graveyard in Halifax, North Carolina.
