Middlebury, Vermont: Anti-Gravity Monument
Businessman Roger Babson paid a number of colleges to erect these granite monuments in the early 1960s, hoping they would inspire future scientists to "harness" or "control" gravity. Babson had a pet peeve about gravity.

- From downtown, drive west on VT-125/College St. After you pass the big white stone church on the right, make the next left onto the campus of Middlebury College. Drive in a hundred feet, and you'll see the tombstone-like monument on the left.
