A plaque affixed to a rock marks the former location of the Globe Tavern, where Abraham and Mary Lincoln lived for nearly two years, starting with their wedding night on November 4, 1842. The plaque, which bears a likeness of clean-shaven Abe, also notes that the tavern was the birthplace of the Lincolns first son, Robert Todd. The family moved out on May 2, 1844, to a house of their own, on South 8th Street. The tavern was razed in the 1890s.
