Resembling a giant wooden millipede, the shipwreck timbers of a 19th century sailing ship are displayed in the median of a 21st century road.

- East end of Oak Island. On the north side of Oak Island Drive, eight blocks west of its intersection with NC-133/Country Club Drive. From Oak Island Drive turn north at the library onto Barbee Blvd, and you'll see the shipwreck timbers in the median.

The 138-foot-long sailing ship sank in a hurricane off of Oak Island in September 1893. Another hurricane uncovered the wreckage in 1999, and what remained of the shipwreck timbers were moved to this spot in August 2005.
