Gahanna, Ohio: Moosesonian: Moose Lodge Museum

Weekends are the best time to visit. The lodge doesn't open until 2PM each day, and during the week there are not a lot of employees or officials there who are available to show you the museum. The bartender told me that weekends are the best days to visit, since most lodge officials are there and are available to give you a tour. It is possible to take a tour Monday through Friday, but it is hit-and-miss if someone there would be available to give you a tour.

Got a great tour from docent Paul. The museum is downstairs in a basement area (you have to go behind the bar, and through the kitchen). It is not handicap accessible, so plan accordingly. The nicest people there! It's the largest sanctioned Moose museum outside of Mooseheart in Illinois. You get a really cool insight into their mission and charity work. Rooms full of Moose memorabilia.

The town of Gahanna, a suburb of Columbus, Ohio, is home to a Loyal Order of Moose lodge -- one of 122 in the state. It is also now home to the Ohio State Moose Association Museum -- dubbed "The Moosesonian" -- which is housed in the lodge's basement.
