Tuska, the elephant mascot of the University of Alabama athletic teams, was recently installed on the campus, near the football stadium. Even though his appearance on campus is new, he is an old sculpture. He was made by British sculptor Terry Mathews, known for his wildlife art. Tuska was originally placed in front of the North River Yacht Club in 2000, but the club decided that it no longer wanted the elephant and he was donated to the university. Tuska is 19 feet tall, weighs seven tons, and was installed on a pedestal in April 2021.
