World's Largest Weathervane

The Weather Vane is impressive and worth a stop if you're in the area. Just SE from the Vane (how convenient) we discovered a Dog & Suds Root Beer stand. Great place for a quick bite. Tables overlook the nearby lake and canal.

Giant Weather Vane.

World's Largest Weather Vane

We passed this huge weather vane on a trip to Western Michigan to visit lighthouses. We happened by this and had to take a picture. It was an added pleasure between the White River Lighthouse and Little Point Sable Lighthouse.

[Ennazus, 06/10/2006]

The claimed World's Largest Weather Vane is 48 ft. tall and features a lumber schooner. A larger "weather vane," is in Whitehorse, Yukon in Canada -- a pole-mounted Douglas DC-3 plane that turns with the wind. However, if you are out lighthousing, Montague's weather vane is the one for you.

It is an ornate, olde timey looking thing with a metal masted ship at the top. Features a weather station in the base. Also note a competing claim of World's Largest Weather Vane in Whitehorse, Yukon , Canada. That one is a DC-3 plane at Whitehorse Intl. Airport that spins on a pole when the wind changes direction....
