Amboy, California: Shoe Tree (Grounded) (Gone)

Just up Route 66 from Roy's Cafe is a shoe tree. It fell down in March 2010, but the desert air preserved it, and people continued to add shoes. By 2024 it was gone.

Route 66 shoe tree

About 10 miles east of Ludlow, CA is a shoe tree - the first I've ever seen. So far it's only got a couple dozen pairs of shoes, but from the appearance of some of the shoes I'd say they've been accumulating for a number of years.
