Moon Tree

A Sycamore grown from seeds brought aboard Apollo 14, they were distributed to towns across the country as part of the Bicentennial celebrations in 1976. Holliston's tree stands next to the Holliston Police Station on MA Route 16 (Washington St.) close to the downtown.

[Michelle, 04/06/2003]

There's a granite marker at its base, but that's a police memorial. The Moon Tree has a tiny green plaque, noting that it was originally nurtured by the Holliston Garden Club. Its seed flew to the moon in 1971.
