The Mastodon has since moved to Wheaton College's New Science Center. It is still visible both inside and outside of the building.
[Monica, 04/26/2012]The Perry Mastadon Exhibit at Wheaton College is a reconstruction of an American Mastodon discovered locally in 1963. Half of it is the skeleton and half is a reconstruction of what it would have looked like when it lived during the ice age. It's viewable from both indoors and outdoors at Breyer Hall. It revolves on a platform, and there is an audio track, as well as an historical multimedia program if you're inside the building. If you're there after hours, there's an audio track you can listen to as you watch the mastadon revolve. Sometimes it's unplugged and you can't listen or watch it revolve, but it's still pretty cool to see.
