Matthews, North Carolina: Unloved Butler Bulldog
Six-foot-tall high school mascot bulldog statue was almost instantly mocked when it was unveiled in Spring 2021. Critics claimed that its face showed "fear" and "weakness" and that it looked more like a pug than a bulldog.

- Butler High School. I-485 exit 51A. Drive north on US-74. Turn right at the first stoplight onto Matthews-Mint Hill Rd. Drive a quarter-mile. Turn right at the brick high school sign. The statue stands in a courtyard in front of the school, between the entry arch and the front door.
