From downtown Le Roy drive east on Main St./NY-5 for two miles. Turn left onto Circular Hill Rd. Drive one mile. Turn right onto Gulf Rd. Drive one mile. You'll see the steam shovel on the left, opposite the entrance to the quarry.

Built in the first years of the 20th century, the Marion Steam Shovel is believed to be the largest intact steam shovel in the world, and may have helped dig the Panama Canal. It's been parked in this roadside spot since 1949.
