This is a statue of a man made of canoes. It is in downtown Traverse City, by the Boardman River.

"River Guardian," 12 feet tall, was created by Dewey Blocksma in 1999. In addition to the canoes (which are not all that big), its eyes are made of seashells, and its head is a block of river driftwood.
