A stretch of Route 66 open until 1958 is remembered with a "Highway of Dreams" historical marker, a parking pull-off, and a rusted hulk of a 1932 Studebaker to pose with for photos.

- 25 miles east of Holbrook in Petrified Forest National Park. I-40 exit 311. Pay your fee at the entry gate, then follow Petrified Forest Rd winding around about six miles to the pull-off, on the right.

Great stop along the 28 mile Petrified Forest Rd for a photo op.

The Petrified Forest National Park is the only NP that contains a section of the old Route 66 highway. Visitors can see the old roadbed and route of the Mother Road by the line of power poles paralleling that path in the distance (to the far left).
And yes, that is a 1932 Studebaker that has been installed as a photo-op. The car was donated to the National Park Service by Frank and Rhonda Dobell, owners of Arizona Automotive Service in Holbrook, Arizona.
