Great surprise to stumble upon while walking around this old cemetery. There's much more to see than just the metal water pitcher. Take the time to look at some of the old tombstones. There are many that are so old you can't read the words anymore from the wear of the stone.

When the sign says dusk, they really do mean dusk, or they will lock you in without letting you know that they are closing the gates. Luckily the police do have a set of keys to the gates and will come to let you out.
[Laura, 04/14/2013]Sitting just inside the gate of Lynchburg's City Cemetery is a Giant Pitcher. The Pitcher was a working fountain at the town reservoir from 1890 to 1963, the year that the reservoir was covered. According to a local resident, the pitcher stood on the steps of the Water Authority building for years before being moved to the cemetery. It must be six feet tall. Maybe this is the final resting place for this giant pitcher.
