Aurora, Illinois: Spartan Warrior

Bronze, eight-foot tall version of the Aurora University sports teams' mascot. Unveiled in 2014. Some of his accessories are tinted with blue (the school color). He carries his Spartan helmet and an Aurora University shield.

According to Aurora University, it hadn't considered erecting a statue until the University president saw the website of sculptor Matthew Placzek. The University gave him a call, and nine months later -- August 2014 -- he delivered the Spartan statue.
