Hollywood, California: Site of Manson Murders, Sharon Tate's House
Site where members of Charles Manson's commune "family" killed actress Sharon Tate and four others on August 9, 1969. The original house was demolished and the street numbers jumbled to discourage just this type of tourism. Shame on you.

Trent Reznor (songwriter/musician, Nine Inch Nails, Oscar winner) once owned this property and lived here. When Sharon Tate's younger sister confronted him to think about his choice, he did, and sold the property.

The newly built house is still in the same location. The Manson murder house was "remodeled," meaning that they left one original wall and rebuilt the rest. The new house is much larger than the old house. This house is on the hillside above Cielo Drive and can only be viewed from a nearby hillside, not from the street below.
[Nikki Kreuzer, 03/21/2013]I recently visited Hollywood and bought one of those "Map of the Star Homes." I arrived at the Charles Manson murder site, and it was very difficult to distinguish which plot was where Tate's house USED to stand (the original home was demolished.) The address on the map was 10048 Cielo Drive, and there is a note that says that it was formerly 10050. There was a new home being built up the hill at what looked to be 10048. BUT...I went on the Internet on returning home, and the Internet says that the plot was actually re-numbered to 10066. So, if you want to see the actual plot where the house stood, go to 10066, NOT the address listed on the stupid tourist map.
