Opened in 1964 by the Dow Chemical Co. to transport fluorspar from its Mexican mines into the U.S. Closed in 1997.

Directions:
From US-90 in Marathon turn south (no stoplight) toward Big Bend National Park onto US-385. Drive 39 miles. Turn left (no stoplight) onto FM 2627 Hwy. Drive 28 miles until the road ends at the bridge.

The bridge was opened in 1964 by the Dow Chemical Co. so that trucks could drive fluorspar from its Mexican mines into the U.S. The bridge was closed in 1997.

The next-nearest border crossing between the U.S. and Mexico is over 100 miles away. Attempts to reopen the bridge have been unsuccessful.
